Venomous Line: Sadykova’s first purely digital collection

In this post we meet Dinara Sadykova, an award-winning young fashion designer with four international fashion shows under her belt.

This autumn, she presented her latest collection at the Athens Xclusive Designers Week, the official international fashion week of Greece.  When it was announced that the venue would take place online, Dinara decided to seize the opportunity to go full digital.

We asked Dinara about her inspirations as a designer and her process for making her ideas reality.

“This particular collection is in a luxury casual style with intense and fitted lines, which highlight the woman’s femininity and elegance. I address it to the dynamic woman with a strong personality. My inspiration came from seductive snakes, whose beauty brings danger.”

“I love seeing through on my ideas, combining inspiration with method and process, so I’ve been into software from the beginning.  I’ve been using PolyPattern for my pattern development since university and more recently dove into Browzwear.  With software, it’s so easy to be organized, to create one form from another, and to test before building. So I would be using these tools even if I were presenting a physical collection.”

100% digital meant more time for designing

“I’m thrilled I had this opportunity to make my full collection 100% digitally in 3D. Working in Browzwear software allows me to do a lot more in less time and with far less expense. Because actually I didn’t have to buy meters of fabric, I didn’t have to sew the clothes, I didn’t have to find a human model and make multiple in-person fittings and I didn’t have to do a photo-shooting. That gave me much more time for experimenting on my new designs, to test how will they be in real life. Now I can show the world my collection much more easily and quickly than with classical methods.”

“This experience made me realize that with previous work I would sometimes stick with a design I wasn’t 100% happy with, because by the time I saw it made, I had already put so much effort and money into it, and there was no more time or money to improve it. Or, conversely, I may really like a design, but how do I know it will sell? Now it’s like a low risk design method.”

This is the future. It’s all on my laptop.

“Browzwear’s VStitcher offers me the perfect visualization, construction details, and fitting, so I can see transparently through to production.  This is the future, because we can sell our collections before we produce them. I’ve saved so much time, so much money, and best of all I am not looking at a pile of unused fabric, nor storing a physical collection.  It’s all on my laptop!”

We would like to thank Dinara Sadykova for giving us the opportunity to talk about her latest collection and congratulate her on the - purely digital - presentation at the Athens Xclusive Designers Week.
